Product engineer founding @ Auptim Spokane Valley

I build, extend, and harden whole product systems.

I’m a founding product engineer at Auptim. I work across product features and the systems underneath them: architecture, data, agent workflows, payments, security, and testing. I can enter a live product and ship what it needs next, or build a new system from scratch.

What I want to build next.

I’m looking for a small AI-native team with a real product, hard engineering problems, and close contact among founders, engineers, and users. I want enough ownership to understand the whole system and ship what it needs next. I move quickly on reversible decisions and get rigorous where failure is expensive.

Coding agents accelerate implementation. I remain responsible for architecture, review, verification, and delivery. If you need an early engineer who can work across the product without losing contact with the details, get in touch.

Shmidge

Auptim · founding engineer · live product

Shmidge is Auptim's AI project management product, now used by teams outside the company. I inherited an expansive AI-generated prototype where basic workflows failed and the code had serious authorization gaps. I documented the highest risk problems and shared the assessment with the team so we could agree on what had to change. I then led the technical recovery, rebuilding the core around typed agent runtimes, row-level security, and release verification while continuing to take product feedback from coworkers.

Internal Amazon tools

Amazon · 2021 - 2025 · self initiated

I taught myself Python on Amazon's warehouse floor because the official tools did not answer the operational problems in front of us. I iterated directly with the teams using what I built. The flagship named the exact bins with available space when the official system only pointed to a broad aisle range. It is still in use at my old fulfillment center, its algorithm was adopted into a guided stow scanner used nationwide, and a separate dashboard now runs across roughly 70 US facilities.

Synth Runner

The Production House · technical lead

A complete Three.js game I conceived and engineered for a two-person studio. The studio's founder shaped the direction while I owned the technical execution: physics, accounts, leaderboards, and a build pipeline targeting web, desktop, and Android from one codebase.

scip-query

open source · creator and maintainer

Coding agents work on files and text, but the decisions that matter live in symbols, dependencies, and structure. scip-query gives agents compiler-resolved evidence, maps the effect of a change before they make it, and fails closed when the evidence is incomplete. The public repository includes the CLI, 25 agent skills, migration and duplication gates, and TLA+ scaffolding. It develops itself under the same checks it gives other codebases.

Experiments and contributions

These projects are either prelaunch or work I contributed to without owning the original project.

  1. Local LLM quantization

    Open-source contribution

I contribute to ROCmFPX and publish FP4 quantizations for AMD Strix Halo. The catalog currently covers ten models with roughly 60,000 downloads.

  2. BarnPulse

    Private prelaunch testing

A management product for horse tracking and incident reporting. A small trusted group is testing it privately. It is not ready for public use, and feature work and a UI transition remain incomplete.

  3. On Main

    Working prototype

A multi-tenant booking marketplace I architected and built solo. The row-level security model, more than 100 migrations, and Stripe Connect stack are built, but payments are not live and the product has never launched to external users.

An operator who learned to build.

Each step took on more of the whole.

    Founding Software Engineer · Auptim

    product ownership · architecture

I lead the technical development of Shmidge, Auptim's live AI project management product, now used by teams outside the company. I also built two products that are earlier in their lifecycle: BarnPulse is in limited private testing, and On Main is a working prototype that has never launched.

  2. 2024 - Now

Technical Lead · The Production House

    engineer · two person studio

An independent game studio. I conceived and engineered Synth Runner while the studio's founder shaped its direction, then shipped it to web, desktop, and Android from one codebase. Now building Mid Manager, a warehouse inbound simulation.

  3. Ongoing

    Freelance Web Developer

    solo · client sites

Full client sites across several industries: Poorman Legal (law), CameraWorks Media (real estate), and Counseling 2 Thrive (counseling).

  4. 2021 - 2025

Operations & Internal Tooling · Amazon

    self-taught · internal tools

Taught myself to code on the job, then iterated with floor teams until the tools changed how the work got done. One algorithm was adopted into a nationwide scanner, and a separate dashboard now runs across roughly 70 US facilities.
